Mr Dat Huynh
All fencers welcome to attend the Weapon and Gear Maintenance Workshop after the Beginner Try Epee and Sabre training session this Saturday 29/06/19
We will be running a Weapons and Gear Maintenance Workshop after the Beginner Try Epee and Sabre training session on Saturday.
The workshop is scheduled to start at 10am and will conclude by 12pm. Beginner Fencers will also be attending to learn about the maintenance procedures.
Coach Ted and Coach Sean will help run the workshop on diagnosing common body wire and weapon issues so that our fencers can have a better understanding of their gear and how to best take care of it.
Please feel free to bring along any personal faulty equipment and a set of your own tools (small screwdrivers – flat head and Phillips head) if you wish to do some of your own repairs with guidance on the day – we have limited tools for a large group. All other equipment will be provided.
Also, thank you to the following students for volunteering to assist with the Try Epee and Sabre training session as well as the Maintenance Workshop as per request from our coaches:
- Louise Flint
- Leon Liu
Lachlan Ho(prior engagement)
- Henry Guo
- Dylan Huynh
- Thomas Nguyen
Please contact Mr Huynh if there are any issues or questions.

The NSWFA School Team Championships start this Saturday for all weapons.
Teams have been posted on the Results page. Please ensure you arrive at least 30 minutes before your first match time to sign in and warm up. All fencers are expected to check in with Mr Huynh upon arriving and wear proper uniform for fencing (Full fencing gear with blue High sock on back leg).
Please check the School Competitions page for the official NSWFA documentation on fixtures and start times.
The SBHS Fencing Google calendar has also been updated to reflect the information that NSWFA has provided.
Please note: Senior Epee Team has only one weekend of competition (Sat 22/06/19) while Sabre and Foil teams have a total of 4 Saturdays of fencing for the NSWFA School Team Championships. Due to a lack of competition, we will not be entering a Junior Epee Team.
