Tuesday 03/09/19: Winter Sports Photos – Fencing

The Winter Sport photos for Fencing will take place on Tuesday 03/09/19 at the COLA (cricket nets).

Please make yourselves available on the day to be in the official photos for the season.

Uniform: Full school uniform (non-sport) with blazers if you have one.

The following photos are planned for Fencing at 9:30am:

  • First Grade Foil (U19 Foil Squad)
  • First Grade Epee (U19 Epee Squad)
  • First Grade Sabre (U19 Sabre Squad)
  • Senior Fencing (all Senior Fencers)
  • Junior Fencing (all Junior Fencers)

Intermediate (Junior) National Schools Championship: 14 & 15/09/19

According to NSWFA, the following students are eligible to enter the Individual competitions for the Intermediate (Junior) National Schools Championships:

Registrations close on 07/09/19.
If you wish to fence in this competition (not compulsory), please register yourselves ASAP for the relevant individual event using the link below and email a screenshot of your registration to Mr Huynh to confirm your attendance once you have done so:

Mr Huynh will organise reimbursements for the entry fees at a later date.

Congratulations to our students on their achievements this season. We wrapped up the Senior National School Championship events over the weekend and we still have the Junior National School Championships to go on the 14 and 15th of September.

Sunday 25/08/19: National School Team Championships

Please check the Results 2019 page for our Senior Team selection and the SBHS Fencing Calendar for the start times of all the events on this weekend.

If you are not able to attend, please contact Mr Huynh ASAP.

We will have coaches present to assist our students over the weekend.

Gear return on Wednesday 21/08/19

As the Winter Sport season has ended, all fencers are asked to return borrowed equipment on Wednesday at the start of Lunch 1 (unless you’re fencing in the Nationals). Meet me at the Cricket Nets to have your name signed off upon return.
Please remember to wash and clean the gear before you return them.

Note: We will need to do a stocktake later this term (when all the gear has been returned) so I will be asking for volunteers to assist.

Saturday 17/08/19 – SBHS Newbie Trophy Competition

The Newbie Trophy competition will start at 8am sharp. All participating fencers should arrive by 7:30am to warm up and get dressed.

Volunteer referees and mentors are asked to arrive by 7:30am to help set up pistes and mentor the padawans.

Poules have been set and results will be updated live via this link:

Competition format:

Poule (smaller group round robin) followed by Direct Elimination round.

All matches must conclude by 11:30am as Cricket have a booking at 12pm.
Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and equal 3rd place afterwards at the BBQ.

National Senior School Championships: 24-25/08/19

The National Senior School Championships are on the weekend of the 24/08/19. Individual events are scheduled for Saturday 24/08/19 and Team events are on Sunday 25/08/19.

The following students have either automatically qualified or are able to be included in the Individual events because of allocations for the other states have not been fully subscribed by them:

NSWFA – AJ Rae School Teams Competition (qualifier for Nationals) on Saturday 10/08/19

This Saturday is the AJ Rae School Teams Competitions for our Foil and Sabre Senior and Junior teams.

SBHS Fencing Dinner on Saturday 07/09/19

As we wrap up another successful year of SBHS Fencing, the time has come to organise the end of season Fencing Dinner.

Please join us for a night of fun, food and awards as we celebrate our achievements and recognition of the hard work that parents, coaches, staff and our student athletes have contributed to Fencing at High this year.

The Fencing Dinner will be held on Saturday 07/09/19 in the Great Hall. Duration is expected to be from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

The cost of the event is $45.00 per person.
Permission notes can be found outside the Industrial Arts staff room. Payment can be made at the school admin office. Please get your payments in by 16/08/2018.
