Purchasing a Fencing glove

Jeff, our equipment supplier, will be coming to training next Wednesday (03/05/17) at 3:15pm at the COLA (cricket nets) to sell fencing gloves to our new fencers as well as any other fencers who may need a new glove.

Jeff usually sells fencing gloves for $24, but for this visit he has offered us a discounted special price of $22 cash for a glove.

Students will be able to try one on for size and purchase it directly from him on the day.

A gentle reminder that all students are required to have their own fencing glove as a part of their personal protective equipment for fencing and must bring it to every training session and competition.

You may choose to purchase your glove and any other equipment from any supplier you wish as long as it meets the minimum safety standards set out by NSWFA.

Please see Uniform – Where to buy fencing gear for more information or if you wish to contact Jeff directly.

New year 7 fencers: Please bring an extra sports bag to training on Thursday 30/03/17

All new year 7 fencers have the opportunity to borrow a set of personal protective equipment (fencing mask, jacket and underplastron) from the armoury for the season.

New fencers will be able to take the gear home and are expected to maintain and clean the equipment as required.

Please bring an extra sports bag that can fit a fencing mask to training on Thursday. Gear will be loaned out for the season during training. No bag = no gear for you!

All fencers will be expected to bring their set of personal protective equipment to training (excluding sprints training) and will not be able to fence without it.

Alternatively, you are welcome to buy yourself a set of the equipment if you do not wish to use the school gear.

Please contact Mr Huynh if there are any issues or questions.

See you at training!

First competition of the 2017 season: Roberta Nutt Shield (18/02/17 – 19/02/17)

Hi all,

Welcome back to SBHS Fencing in 2017! I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break. We are starting to plan the program and events for this season, starting with the first school competition: the Roberta Nutt Shield. I have notified students via the school Daily Notices about the upcoming event.

Thank you to those students who have already spoken with me and passed me their registration details. I would like to send the entries off on Monday afternoon, so if you haven’t already given me the necessary details, please do so before the end of school on Monday 13/02/17.

Students will be able to borrow the electric gear from the armoury on Wednesday 15/02/17 at lunchtime, or arrange an alternative time with Mr Huynh if you are away on Wednesday.

The competition venue will still be at Marrickville PCYC for this event and will be moving to the new NSWFA venue for the rest of the season.

I look forward to another exciting fencing season with you!

Cheers,

Dat Huynh
