Foil Squad Try Outs begin Monday 08/03/2021
U16 Foil Squad Try-outs begin after school on Monday 08/03/2021, 3:30pm at the COLA.
Please bring your fencing gear and be ready for electric bouting by 3:30pm.
U19 Foil Squad Fencers, Please come to assist with refereeing duties.

Squad Tryout List – please check your details are correct
Thank you to all students who followed instructions and completed the Fencing Try Out Google form.
Please find the shortlist for Squad Tryouts 2021 as per Google form details:
Update 02/03/2021: Shortlist document has been updated to version 1.1 after further vetting process.
Note:
- Squads will consist of up to 6 fencers.
- Squad Trials will consist of pool matches to determine ranks – top 6 fencers get offered a squad position.
- U19 squads will be filled first, followed by U16 then U14.
- Squad Trials begin Monday Week 7. Please keep an eye out for updates on tryout matches scheduled in week 7 on the SBHS Fencing website, Fencing white board and SZapp.
- Please have your personal fencing gear (mask, underplastron, jacket, breeches and glove) ready for tryout matches in week 7!
- Fencers who aren’t selected for Squad training will participate in Development training.
- 20 award scheme points still apply for Development fencers for full season participation.
Beginner and new fencers trying out will be participating in a different tryout process that focuses on speed, agility, resilience and commitment. More information will be posted soon!

Fencing Tryouts 2021
To all SBHS students,
If you intend to try out for the SBHS Fencing program this year, please complete the tryout form below:

Please have this task completed by Tuesday 23/02/2021 as we need time to plan resources and set up pools for Squad tryouts in week 7.
Make sure you have also nominated Fencing on your Sports Selection Ballot. This Google form is part of the tryout process and does not guarantee your selection.
Due to the demand and limited places, students who do not follow instructions to fill in the tryout form will not be able to progress to physical tryouts in week 7.

Returning borrowed gear and clearing the COLA store room
All students who still have equipment borrowed from last Saturday’s match, please return by Wednesday 23/09/2020 lunchtime at the COLA.
Also, the COLA storeroom will be cleared on Wednesday for the start of Cricket Season. Please collect your bags if you have not already done so.

A gentle reminder that all SBHS students are expected to wear appropriate SBHS sport uniform when representing our school in competitions. Please visit https://sbhsfencing.com/uniform/for-competitions/ for more information. Please remember to bring your SBHS sport jacket to wear for the medal presentations.

For those attending, please arrive at least 30 minutes before start time to sign in with the Director of Tournament (DT), get your name marked off by Mr Huynh and warm up before your match.
Note: Parents and spectators will not be allowed in due to Covid-19 policies. Fencers must leave upon conclusion of their event. We will have coaches and Mr Huynh attending for supervision and support this weekend.

End of 2020 Season Survey
Hi all,
As we are wrapping up the end of another Fencing season, we ask that you please take some time to provide us with some valuable feedback so that we’re able to improve the program for next season.
The survey will only take a few minutes and the Google Form link can be found here:
SBHS Fencing 2020 – End of season survey
You’ll be required to sign into your Google account to ensure one response per person (and you can edit your response afterwards if you need to). The survey is completed anonymously as your email address is not collected.
The survey will remain open for the next few weeks (until the end of term), but please consider completing it ASAP so that we can review and start planning next year’s program to meet the needs of our school community.

Beginner Fencers: Please remember to wash and return all borrowed fencing gear this Wednesday!
To all beginner Fencers who borrowed gear from the SBHS Fencing Program at the beginning of the season:
This is the last week of training so please remember to wash and dry your underplastron and jacket, as well as clean and wipe down your fencing mask before you bring it on Wednesday!

SBHS Junior Foil Trophy 2020 – Direct Elimination round details
Thanks to the students who were able to attend the special training session today to complete the pool rounds of the new internal SBHS Junior Foil Trophy competition. We have now drafted up the Direct Elimination (DE) matches from the results. Please follow link below for details:
