Saturday 25/05/2024 – Fencing Events

Update regarding qualification for Nationals: I have sought clarification regarding qualifying events for Nationals and have been informed by NSWFA that any fencer who participates in NSWFA school competitions (including the AJ Rae and Roberta Nutt) are eligible to participate in the National Schools Championships.
As such (and as per previous season), we will only be submitting Sabre Squad Fencers into the remaining two NSWFA events. Epee and Foil Squad Fencers will prioritise League events and friendlies for the rest of the season to complement their training.

We have the following events happening on Saturday:

  • NSWSFL U19 Epee Individual DE + Finals + Medal Ceremony (Venue: SACS)
  • NSWFA School Championships: U14 & U16 Individual Competition – SBHS Sending Sabre only
  • Foil Team Friendly with SGS, hosted at SBHS Gym
  • Development Training (Foil and Epee – venue: SBHS COLA for Epee, SBHS Gym for Foil)

Please check the 2024 Results page for details on fencers, refs and start times:
https://sbhsfencing.com/2024-results/

This is a courtesy post to keep everyone updated with events planned for this Saturday. More details will be updated here once locked in. Final details to be confirmed by End of Training on Thursday. Comms and info for Intermediate National Selection will be sent out later this week after Wednesday Squad Training concludes.

Please contact Mr Huynh if there are any issues or questions.

Saturday 18/05/2024 – Fencing Events

We have the following events happening on Saturday:

  • NSWSFL U14 Epee Individual Round 2 Pools, U16 Epee Individual Round 1 Pools (Venue: SACS)
  • NSWFA Roberta Nutt Shield: U18 Individual Competition (all weapons) @ NSW Fencing Centre

Please check the 2024 Results page for details on fencers, refs and start times:
https://sbhsfencing.com/2024-results/

Clipboard has been updated with the rolls for Saturday.
Please note that for NSWFA events, students are asked to bring their student ID cards and present it to the Director of Tournament (DT) to check in before the start of their competition.

For all competitions, please aim to arrive 60 minutes earlier than your start time so that you can check in with the DT, get your name marked off the Clipboard roll with your coach, and warm up sufficiently before your first official bout. Referees are to check in with the DT 30 minutes before the start time.
For Squad Fencers competing in NSWFA events, it may be a very long day so remember to pack food and water, bring a towel, and wear correct uniform (school sock on back leg, school tracksuit jacket for medal presentations).

For Development Fencers, Saturday training has been cancelled for this weekend due to limited coaching and staff resources that need to be redirected to manage the competition events. Please keep an eye on announcements for any future Saturday training sessions.

We wish our fencers all the best for this weekend!
